The Conference «Interfaith dialogue and religious tolerance — the guarantor of stability in society»
November 16, in honor of the International day of tolerance, at the Tashkent Islamic University hosted a conference on «Interfaith dialogue and religious tolerance — the guarantor of stability of society», organized by the Committee for religious Affairs, Tashkent Islamic University and the UNESCO office in Uzbekistan.
The event was attended by foreign guests from Europe and Asia, representatives of the diplomatic corps and international missions, heads of religious confessions in Uzbekistan, scientists and experts in the field of religious studies and sociology.

The Tolerance in our multicultural country plays an important role. Today in Uzbekistan peacefully coexist 2242 religious organizations of 16 different confessions. It is known that to strengthen relations, based on mutual respect and acceptance, it is important to have diverse educational activities. The Tashkent Islamic Universitywas established in 1999.The history of all religions and their sources is being studied on a comparative basis in the university. In 2000 in collaboration with UNESCO, the Department of «UNESCO religious studies and comparative study of world religions» has been opened at the University, and in 2017, at the initiative of President sh. Mirziyeyev, under the auspices of the Organization of Islamic cooperation was established the Department «ISESCO».
The President Sh. Mirziyeyev attaches great importance to the factors that affect peace and harmony in the country.An example of this – he developed the «Action Strategy in five priority directions of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the years 2017-2021», in particular «Priority directions in the sphere of security, religious tolerance and interethnic harmony».
Regarding the issues of tolerance by UNESCO itself has adopted more than 70 international documents. This organization promotes cooperation between representatives of various nationalities and ethnic groups, promotes interfaith dialogue, peace and tranquility on Earth. «Declaration of tolerance principles» was adopted at the 28th General conference of UNESCO on 16 November 1995 and marked the beginning of the celebration of «International day of tolerance». In Uzbekistan, this conference is held for the 20th time.
The participants of the conference dedicated to this day, noted the importance of peace and stability in the modern global world, where solidarity and understanding between religions, confessions, Nations and nationalities is of great importance. These are the factors, that guarantee the development and prosperity of society.
The conference participants were presented an exhibition of prints, paintings reflecting inter-ethnic harmony and religious tolerance, objects of applied art of various peoples, prepared by the national-cultural centers and religious organizations.
